This training focuses on using the NEW SVR-20 (version 2) when understanding sexual offending in adult males. It will cover use and administration of the NEW SVR-20 (Sexual Violence Risk Assessment, Boer, Hart, Kropp and Webster, 2017), as well as utilising this in case formulation.
Attendees will utilise case material to assess using this tool. The training will cover:
Definition of sexual offending (harmful sexual behaviour) and the cross-over with sexual violence risk.
Preferred approaches to assessing this area.
Developmental factors crucial to understanding sexual offending.
History/development of the SVR-20 (version 2).
Application of the SVR-20 (version 2) to clinical cases.
Formulating sexual offending.
Trainers: Dr Carol A. Ireland is a Consultant Forensic Psychologist and Chartered Scientist. She has over 20 years clinical practice, with a core focus being sexual offending and sexually harmful behaviour. Dr Ireland is a treatment lead for sexually harmful behaviour for a child and adult therapeutic service (CCATS), and has been a treatment lead for sexual offending services both within HM Prison Service and within a High Secure Psychiatric setting.
Course materials: All attendees will be provided with a CPD certificate indicating attendance. Sufficient materials will be provided to allow participants to score clinical cases using the SVR-20. Sufficient materials are provided for scoring using the SVR-20, yet the manual is NOT provided and is not part of the course cost. Delegates are NOT expected to purchase an SVR-20 manual prior to the training - all necessary materials will be provided. This training is supported by Ann Arbor publishers, and so any SVR-20 manuals can be bought direct from them. Please go to: https://www.annarbor.co.uk/
Venue: CCATS, Westbourne House, 3 Lockwood Avenue, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, FY6 7AB. The course is non-residential but there are hotels nearby for any delegates requiring accommodation. Delegates wanting accommodation are expected to book this directly with the hotel. The training cost does not include accommodation. Joining instructions will be forwarded one month prior to the event.
Who can attend: The workshop is open to any professionals, or in-training professionals, who work with this group or are likely to do so. There are therefore no restrictions on the professions that can attend. The most common attendees are psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, community and psychiatric nurses, police officers, therapists, prison officers and probation officers.
