Date: 23rd October 2020: 9.30am - 4.30pm UK Time
This event is for delegates who have completed IPDE training and training on how to apply the ICD-11 and a personality functioning assessment, such as the Level of Personality Functioning Scale (LPFS). The ICD-11 and LPFS training could have been achieved via a personality disorder up-skilling event.
This training provides opportunity to work through some practice cases to assess for personality disorder using the IPDE (International Personality Disorder Examination: DSM version). The IPDE stipulates that following initial training in the IPDE that there must be familiarity with the measure using cases. It is important to acquire acceptable levels of inter-rater reliability before using the IPDE for diagnostic purposes.
The workshop offers the opportunity to work through practice cases to meet this requirement. Training will comprise of the scoring of several clinical videos and rating them on the IPDE, ICD-11 and LPFS. You will be expected to score one of the characters prior to the event, with this then discussed as part of a group calibration exercise at the start of the training.
You need to have access to an IPDE manual for this event. It is essential.
Trainers: Professor Jane L. Ireland will be leading the event. Professor Ireland is a Chartered Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist and Chartered Scientist. Professor Ireland has over 23 years of clinical practice, including completion of complex personality disorder assessments. Professor Ireland has worked in HM Prison Service as a psychologist and has been in the high secure psychiatric estate for 20 years.
Course materials: All attendees will be provided with a CPD certificate indicating proof of attendance and involvement in the inter-rater reliability exercises. Delegates are expected to be in possession of an IPDE manual, to use for the training. If not, these can be ordered from Ann Arbour: www.annarbor.co.uk.
Venue: Live Online Zoom Event
Who can attend: The administration and scoring of the IPDE is controlled. The course is therefore available for Psychiatrists and Registered Psychologists who hold a current practicing certificate with the HCPC and/or GMC. It is only available for those who are able to diagnose with the IPDE, and thus the initial training must have been attended (along with training in ICD-11 personality assessments and personality functioning assessments). Registered psychologists who wish to complete this training must be a full member of an applied division, specifically Forensic, Clinical or Counselling Psychology. Delegates must provide their professional body membership number in order to verify this and have their place confirmed.
