Date

23rd May 2023, 9.30am - 4.30pm (UK Time)

Course Summary

This event will provide an outline of factors relevant to understanding trauma in forensic populations, with attention to the role of complex trauma responding, adverse childhood experiences and offending. From this, it is aimed that delegates will be able to identify how to account for such factors in EMDR therapy in relation to assessment, preparation, processing memories and installing cognitions, as particular areas of relevance. This will include focused attention on the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and how this applies to forensic populations, using case studies to illustrate. Focus will be on the standard EMDR protocol with reference to other protocols for consideration, as relevant.

The event will address challenges that can emerge when working with this client group, which can include a shift away from the protocol as a result of boundary violations or not being sufficiently aware of the importance of history taking, preparation and factors that can impact on successful engagement for this population. It will also aim to empower clinicians to feel confident with the EMDR protocol and AIP application.

The cost includes provision of handouts, reading material and attendance certificate. There are limited places on this event. Please email tiofp@tiofp.com for more information.

The training commences at 9:30am and ends by 4:30pm.
