Course Summary
This intensive training focuses on developing an understanding of violence risk assessment, illustrating this using one of the most popular structured clinical risk assessments for adult aggression, the HCR-20 version 3 (Historical Clinical Risk Assessment). Attendees will utilise case material to score using this risk assessment. You will also be provided with another case study to score outside the event, as an optional extra, with return leading to the provision of a further certificate.

Trainers
Professor Jane L Ireland will deliver this event. Professor Ireland is a Chartered Psychologist, Forensic Psychologist. Professor Ireland specialises in the understanding, assessment and treatment of aggression, having widely published on this topic. She leads assessed postgraduate training that includes the HCR-20 and has been training in the HCR-20 for almost 20 years.
Course Materials
All attendees will be provided with a CPD certificate indicating attendance. You should have access to a HCR-20v3 manual. This can be purchased from the publisher, Ann Arbour (https://www.annarbor.co.uk/). The training does not include the HCR-20 manual.

Who Can Attend
Structured risk assessment guides are designed to be used by a range of disciplines. There are no restrictions therefore on the professionals that can attend although it is helpful to have some knowledge of what risk assessment includes. The most common attendees are psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, psychiatric and community nurses, police officers, prison officers, social workers and probation officers. Support is also provided following the event in relation to queries over ratings.
