Course Summary

This event will introduce some of the key changes in the WAIS-5 (UK version), such as:

  • Some of the core difference and changes from the WAIS-IV to the WAIS-5 (UK version);
  • A critique to maximise effective clinical use;
  • Some suggestions to support good practice;
  • Some brief pointers for effective report writing.

This is designed as an upskilling event, to assist psychologists already trained in earlier versions of the WAIS and who wish to feel more confident in the use of the WAIS-5.

Due to heavy demand there are limited places on this course.

The cost includes provision of handouts and a CPD certificate.

The training commences at 9am and ends at 12noon (UK time, 3 hours).

Trainers

Professor Carol A. Ireland is the lead trainer on this event. Professor Ireland is a Consultant Forensic Psychologist and Chartered Scientist. She has almost 30 years clinical practice, and has delivered regular training in the WAIS for around 28 years. Professor Ireland is regularly involved in the completion of cognitive assessments. She has worked in cognitive rehabilitation services, and has published in the area.

Who Can Attend

This event is open only to Psychologists who are already trained in the WAIS, and are looking to gain familiarity with the WAIS-5. It will cover an overview of the key changes and considerations. As such, all delegates are expected to have an understanding/ familiarity of its predecessor, the WAIS-IV. Psychologists in training can attend, although their clinical use of the WAIS should be completed in accordance to the manual, local organisational policies, and under supervision of a Registered HCPC Psychologist with extensive expertise in use of the WAIS (and who takes full responsibility for its interpretation).
